I built this quad in order to try out the new HGLRC FD1408 (3-4S) motors. I run a 3" Diatone with freaking BUTTER Cobra 1407 4100KV's (also on HGLRC electronics), and I can confidently report that HGLRC is now putting out motors that are what I consider "the smoothest I've ever flown". That is no hyperbole. These 1408's bring much needed attention to this size that often slips through the cracks. This quad flies like a 3" with the loftiness and "carving" ability of bigger quads (typical for the wide bladed 4052 Gemfan Flash props). I used the HGLRC F428 stack on this build (I talk to HGLRC frequently; they said this is what they run their 3-4S 1408's on), and I replaced their standoffs with dampening rings. The Tattu 1400 3S's size and weight make it seem almost intended for this frame specifically (no HD). In this configuration I can keep this quad in the air for a little less than 8 minutes (!). That too is no hyperbole. I've done it many times (camera angle much more shallow for these "micro LR" sessions). Once I again I have to declare that this quad is one of those "perfect storms" where the parts are well matched amongst the several producers it represents. I should note: do not rely on Armattan's antenna solution(s). They aren't that great and all 4 of mine are sitting in a toolbox somewhere. Just mount your aerials how you like to.
If you'd like to have a quad that you can fly as easy and often as a 2-3" with the power to weight ratio and command of a 5", I think you'll enjoy a quad similar to this one. I also like that this frame can be built very flat, making it easy to carry in a case with goggles and radio. There are 5-6S versions of these motors (I think they are 2600KV(?)). If I built a quad with those I'd use the FD445 stack that is basically the HGLRC version of the Aikon F42020 - 35A stack in 45A (so yes... its VERY nice. I used one on my ARX-R and I absolutely love that 20MM set).

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
