I had my frame cut by cncmadness in 3mm plain weave matte CF. I used 3mm instead of 2mm becuase I have a tendency to spike these things into the ground pretty regularly. Surprisingly, I still came in 3g lighter than the original Sanchez build even with the thicker carbon, I'm guessing it's due to the lighter props, shorter battery lead, and lighter motors (7g 1106 vs 9g 1404).
This build was pretty tough as there's not a lot of room for all the components and wires but if you follow Dave's build video for a similar quad here, a lot of it comes in handy for the Sanchez build too, it helped me a lot.
I used the Emax RS1106 II motors instead of 1404 motors because I wanted to be able to use the 3in Avan Mini props and they don't fit the larger diameter motors. The RS1106 II in 6000kv should be a perfect fit for the Sanchez on 3s, and they should provide adequate thrust and efficiency numbers.
Two tips I can give if you plan to put one of these together:
- I cut down nylon M2 standoffs to 3mm to separate the FC from the TPU adapter. This allows more room for all the wires without crushing them up against the FC
- The canopy looks just like the Gatehunter canopy but you need to print the one from the Sanchez Thingiverse page if you're going to use the Caddx Turtle (20x20 pattern on the bottom of the Sanchez canopy instead of the whoop pattern on the Gatehunter)

Hey Bootbox I just recievied my order from CNCMadness as well, but in 2.5MM. Nick does really great work there. Cant wait to build mine, but with the new Iflight boards w/ Blackbox so I can get some plazma tree action.
Look great! Is the ND filter worth it? 20g isn't it?. I'm planning to build almost the same but using gf3025 & 18650 for long range crusing, still wonder how reliable 12A geprc/betafpv board is.
I see the weight on the Caddx product description but that has to be the total shipping weight. I don't want to take it off to weigh it as I'm pretty sure I'll have to take the canopy off to get it back on (the filter is squeezed in from behind and it stretched the TPU on the way in) but it can't possibly weigh more than a gram, the glass is really thin and the fascia is plastic. It's super, super light.
Also yeah ND filters are the best, completely eliminate jello and do a nice job making pixel blocking disappear. I'll be running them on anything I have that records in HD.

Very interested in the flight times, stability and performance on 2s if you try it. I am trying to build the ultimate <100g Quad for legal metro flying in Aus.
I have an 800mAh 2s pack I can try it on. It might be a while but I'll definitely come back and post my results.

I tired a 450 mah 2S on 6000kV 1404s and it was not bad at all. On the other hand that is a really light pack and a bigger 2S might make the quad lack power

Thanks guys, What were the flight time on the 2s 450mah??. <100g Might be a unicorn. Seems that 130-150g AUW is the sweet spot for 3s. I have an 85mm toothpick frame and 1103 motors arriving today that should tell me if I need to go 3s. I do love both your build.
I could sacrifice HD for a little more maH, but I had envisioned myself gettign some footage of some sketchy locations and doing it legal.
