This was something new for us. Very unique project. We would like to combine a quadcopter and a wing to make a long-range hybrid VTOL. Our goal is to achieve long endurance and great stability and flight characteristics. This was the first prototype. Small scale with brushed motors. We want to try if the idea makes actually sense and might work. Well, it flies surprisingly good. It is really slow and underpowered, but it is stable and it flies as a drone and also as a plane. It is time to continue and make it bigger with brushless motors.

Cut straws in half, stick them on the edge of your wings, because, you know, aerodynamics

It was just a proof of concept prototype... It does not fly anymore :D One afternoon project ;-)

Too bad ! Again, it's one of my favorites. can fly anywhere with it.

nice. do you have some flightfootage?

make air foils that hurts to look at

I've had this idea rolling around in my head all week. I was imagining just a single wing and using a foam board airfoil. Do you have any videor or other information online?

Not really. The single wing is in my mind as well. I have done one 3D printed-EPP prototype of it just to see how it looks. It was the H configuration but it was not sturdy enough. Right now I have here some EPP wings and I try do that with a X configuration.

Could make it using (slightly) forward swept wings, which would make it very hard to stall, while leaving it very manuverable. Now as for the Brushless motors, 3" would be about the ideal size. Big enought to go fast outside but durable and cheep enough not to worry about crashing it.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
