Planted. That's the best word to describe how this feels in the air. Which is strange to me, I was expecting it to feel floaty and lack control. But oh boy does it have control. The way you can drop from exactly 400 feet and no higher and arrest your fall with a minimal amount of stick input is jaw dropping. This thing has oodles of thrust and I love it.
The build was a bit tight, at first I wanted to use the slammed parts but that was never going to work as it's just too tight for a 4 in 1 ESC. So I went half way and it worked great, slightly slammed, and there was enough space for everything. I did have to mount my 30x30 vtx in the back, but it fit like a glove on top of the cap and r9 Slim+ so I'm happy.
The motors are beautiful, wonderful, and everything I could have hoped for in a giant 7" motor.
The only things that worry me are the walmart 7" arms. There quite a bit of flex and how good can $14 arms be...only time will tell if it can hold up to the abuse.
After two GPS related crashes I'm even more impressed with the build, nothing has broken or even chipped, the motor's didn't burn after having to use them to find the quad in the forest. And speaking of crashes: After finishing the build I decided to crash in the woods while experimenting with the GPS recovery feature. I didn't know much about GPS and that I had to turn on GPS telemetry for my QX7 to be able to see coordinates so I started searching blind. Here is the video of that whole event
Thankfully I had been testing with my 1850mah 6s battery so I never got even close to a low battery. I could have flown for 5 minutes more on the capacity that I had left.
Working on the tune now.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
