Another Toothpick

I just couldn't help myself and had to build a toothpick after seeing so many posted here on RB. Goal was a sub-40g build with 1103 ~10kv motors and less than 70g AUW. Although it ultimately came in at 45g (74g AUW using 520 2S GNB), I'm still happy with the way the build turned out and extremely impressed by the performance. TBH, the performance might be too good with sub-3:00 flight times under modestly aggressive flying and speeds that start to greatly exceed city park ettiquite. If I were to do the build again, I would consider motors with less than 10kv and would be tempted to try the Crazybee F4 Pro to get the weight down (and minimize the packaging nightmare with discrete RX unit).

In terms of build difficulty, this was probably my most challenging - definitely not recommended for beginners. The V110X did ultimately provide enough room for an XM+ receiver and an HGLRC Nano VTX but just barely. Additional challenge was some of the tight soldering, especially the motor wires which have an awkward angle with the pads on the board (removed plugs due to the fact that board and motors had different pitch & for performance optimization).

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
