My take on a tiny whoop, and my first quad build...
Using a cheap F4 flight controller and 12,000kV SE0803 motors. Strictly 2S, no intention of ever running 1S.
I was curious if I could fit a Fli14+, just barely. It will not fit with the heatshrink sleeve, I used kapton tape to isolate it from the FC. The side of the USB connector holds the receiver tightly, no rattle at all! Still haven't tested max range yet, but I hardly drop below 85 RSSI flying to all corners of the house.
I purchased a Nano2 before I bought my goggles, which turned out to support 16:9. Wish I had waited to buy a camera till I got a pair of goggles now. 4:3 mode does work but wastes screen!
The 450mAh batteries should not fit off dimensions listed for the frame and batteries, but they fit perfectly. I haven't been doing anything to retain the batteries other than slide them in, works well! I've managed ~4:30 minutes of flight with a very gentle 65% max throttle with high expo, it flies indoors exceptionally well configured this way!
I couldn't find much documentation on the polarity of the motor connectors, so I guessed. Somehow I managed to get 1 of 4 correct, motor 3. I do not exactly remember, but I think it is the only one forced to a specific orientation by nearby SMD components. I then followed a similar pattern (I thought) for the other 3 using the silkscreen on motor3 as a guide, and that was wrong. I repinned the connectors. If you use this FC, reverse the orientation of motor connectors 1, 2, and 4 from how they appear in my photos!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
