My next kwad project. This quad is to be used in freestyle and close-proximity flights.
Intended to use with a 30.5mm FC + 4in1 ESC double stack, just enough room for the rx, vtx and antennas.
I've included mounting for 20x20mm as well but still haven't found an attractive option (pretty difficult to compete with the Mamba stack).
Exploring a bit on the quad + configuration, I'll be using the same arms that I've been using on other designs.
At this moment still retouching the CAD but looks like it won't change too much.
Still in doubt if I should switch to 6s or just keep flying 4s for freestyle.
Feedback always appreciated, let me know what you think!
What are the benefits of this style vs the usual arm style?
I believe flight characteristics should be pretty similar to a regular X quad, I was curious about this config, so I'm starting with a simple +
About the arms position, I used an optmization algorithm to define the angle of the side arms.
I also had the reinforces slightly curved just for the visuals, haha, straight should have been better and lighter
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

i wish that motor protection at the back was straight rather than to the left ahhaha. BUTT IT LOOKS SO COOL DUDE. reminds me of batman!! any estimations on weight?
Hahaha! The same, I was just using my standard arm design to get the mounting holes placed properly, the final version will have an arm with symmetric motor protection on the front and on the back (but still be able to use this old-style arms)
I was impressed how cool the frame looks, so excited to see it fully built!
The frame and the frame-screws/standoffs should be around 125g.
dude thats pretty unique!! also if you wanna do a step further....why dont you try vertical arms too? in that config, it has less drag in any camera angle!! tho would need beefing up! Looking great!!
Interesting! Will have a look on that!
