RNGR - Source One 7" Long Range

Wanted to build a long range setup for a while, after several months I finally feel like I have it built the way I want.

Initially wanted the Deadcat arms of the Source One, but was out of stock. So I went with X configuration and crossed fingers I wouldn't see props. Few test hovers fortunately didn't have any in view! Initially used a Spedix IS30 4-in-1 that I had in the drawer with varying 4s battery configurations and had voltage sags/brownouts at high-throttle. Making the move to 5s seemed logical and I'll likely experiment with Li-Ion packs before too long. Still relatively a work in progress!

Had to dial in some video/osd gremlins with the icons not being correct and interferance issues. A quick font reload and adding a shield between ESCs and VTX made great improvements.

Next on the list is working out battery life and doing some prop comparison between 7x4x3, 7x3x3, or bi-blade 7x4.5. Hoping to get 10-15 minutes of easy cruising.

Scales show dry weight of 630g and a hefty 923g AUW with RDQ 2200mAh 5s

Nice build! How's the performance on 5s with the 2507 1850kv motors?

Thanks! It does pretty well considering how heavy it is. I settled on 7x3.5x3 which provided a good balance of handling and efficiency. I would probably have dropped to the 1700kV if I were to do anything different. Also this frame is quite heavy on its own.

Good shot! I'm planning to do the same but with dead cat arms. Have you got any dvr to show?
On my 6'', using a 6s li-ion pack, I obtain 15-20 min flight time of cruising (without the session 5)

This guide will walk you through the process of building your first FPV quad. The goal with this design was to build a low-cost, lightweight quad, yet powerful enough to safely carry a GoPro in close proximity areas. I chose these parts to minimize the amount of soldering at no cost to the quality. A typical build requires around 30 solders while this only needs 25. It's not a huge difference, but..

In late 2019 DJI made inroads into the FPV scene with their remarkable low-latency digital system. It gave us a 720p video feed with latency on-par with the status quo, analog video. Traditionally we've used analog video systems for low-latency video, but the video quality is far from ideal. It's a trade-off we've been willing to accept for the control. Now we've got the best of both worlds and what..
