Third time's a charm.
I originally built this quad back in December right after finishing the 6" BangGOD. I had just a handful of flights on it when the first ESC went out and took a motor along with it. I plugged in a battery for a flight and just saw a puff of smoke out of motor #3. I assumed it was just a motor issue so I decided to give the iFlight motors a shot and take a break from the Hypetrains. After installing the new motors, that's when I learned the ESC was dead for motor #3. Contacted PyroDrone, explained what happened, and they sent me out a new ESC.
I installed the second ESC and got over a dozen flights out of it. Then, out of nowhere the quad fell from the sky on fire. The pictures speak for themselves. PyroDrone really took care of me again and I'm finally back in the air with this quad after being without if for a month.
The only thing we can conclude happened was that there was a problem with the harness between the flight controller and the ESC. Motor #3 was again cooked, and I didn't replace the cable when I swapped in the second ESC. I have over 100 flights on my 6" BangGOD with this same setup so I really think this was just a fluke.
As bad as the pictures seem, I was able to salvage most everything. Automotive Brakleen took all the mess from the fire off of everything. The receiver was fine, I got a new coaxial cable and air unit cable right from DJI, I had to replace one iFlight motor, and I needed a new ESC and flight controller. Fortunately, I was back in the air for less than $100.
I took it out today and all is good. I also took some pictures of the quad just in case something did happen. I guess that's what I get for flying a new build before photographing it!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
