Went to my first race a couple of months ago and got bit hard from the racing Bug! After my freestyle rig took a good beat down from the first race, I had to build a race quad that was meant for racing and the abuse it comes with.
Decided on the Hyperlite Floss 3.0 Lite, since it was designed for a 20 x 20 stack and parts were readily available. The frame is super light, but I ended up designing some TPU parts for some initial protection while I learned to run gates.
The 20 x 20 boards are small, but it was still a tight squeeze fitting everything under the canopy.

Since I knew I was going to get passed often, I wanted others to be able to see me as much as possible, so I added LED's to bottom of the arms.

Built it with the hybrid rear arms and got it running on a 6S 1100 mah battery that is small and lighter. The bird flies great, rails corners, and can definitely take a beating!

A beautiful build! I strongly recommend that you get the front arm brace, because it is a lifesaver. It can also look good if you color it well. ;)

Thanks! Might take it out to Alameda Point this weekend for a quick Rip!

Oh? Flying field with the gazebo next to the Douglas Skyhawk-on-a-stick? I might get to see it in action then! From a socially responsible distance, of course...

1st of all, this rig looks SICK. It's amazing how small parts have gotten for racing, your vtx antenna looks HUGE. Just a year ago (maybe a year and a half) that was the smallest circular polarised antenna on the market... now it's like you strapped a refrigerator on your back. Your color coordination, and wire routing are on point.

yeah, this thing is definitely smaller than my freestyle quad. I ordered a 5" frame, but after I built it, I thought they may have sent me a 4" frame!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
