Birdbrain RC Fortress 5 "Opulence"

After my first box frame cut turned out better than expected, I figured I might make a backup quad. At the same sort of time, my carbon supplier got in touch and mentioned their coloured carbon sheet, and with the Fortress frame being all cut from one thickness of CF I figured it could look pretty sweet, so I ordered a sheet and a bunch of components to put together a build, colour coordinated of course!

Build used an Aikon stack this time, which turned out to be slightly easier to package in the confines of the body than the Hobbywing stack I used in the first build. Whilst a bit of an awkward size means it won't be ideal in every quad, the Race Dragon ESC looks to be a really nice board coming in at a great price. The rest of the build is much the same as the first, the exception being a switch from Xing 2208s to 2306s for aesthetic reasons. If I build a third I might try the 2207s just to establish which of the three I prefer.

Once the sheet came, I tore straight into it - turned out that whilst the carbon itself cut butter smooth as I've come to expect, the silk strands which give it the coloured accents wasn't cutting cleanly, leaving me with a lot of work to do cleaning up the edges by hand with silicon carbide paper. The end result really looks great though, especially with gold prints and the Xing 2306 motors. Lockdown time well spent!

Love the frame, please list the .STL

It maybe possible to 3D-Print the individual parts using Oynx (CF filled Nylon), while still maintaining the needed rigidity. Ineresting thing is that often this can save a bit of weight too. If you share the .stl files i can verify this as well as get an estimate of the cost / weight.

Side note: Most of my 3" builds are using Oynx, which has proved to be nearly indestructable.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
