Meet the 7inch!
This was built and lost almost a year ago
I decided that it would be interesting to look into the world of big props. Since, it was quiet cheap to change (just a different set of arms for the source one) I decided on building it. The idea was to go long range, to be able to accompany and film a wing even a few kilometers out.
The plan worked and with 2 1550mah 4s Tattu Funflys in good conditions I was getting around 10km of overall distance I could fly. Was planing on pushing it even further with some big 3s batteries, but sadly the last test with adding a 3rd FunFly went very wrong. Basically the drone decided that it wants to be free and doesn't need my assistance anymore. Never found it, and the search radius is too big to comb through.
It still lives on in our memories and maybe one day, we will find the crash site, however that's not very likely. The saddest part is that it took the Runcam 5 Orange with it, 3 Lipos and I don't even get a chance to add the broken parts to my jar :D
I am thinking about a 4 inch long range drone that might be its successor.
Have you ever lost a drone? How did you cope with it?
Looking forward to hearing your comments and suggestions!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
