This is a simple experiment:

  • 2 x DC10 frames mounted back to back in the attempt of building a 10" x8 FPV cinelifter. This was a significant team effort involving: Petrut Rusu, Calin Sapunaru, Daniel Banu and Nicu Tacu.
  • ultralight gimbal mounted on a custom top plate using alpha gels (https://www.icecam-gimbal.it/en/tiny-3-ultravision-eng/)

Speed test (86kmh) with a7s3:

Important notes:

  • it was very easy to tune, much easier then Thicc
  • it is very efficient. I believe it can carry a 1kg payload for almost the same amount of time as Thicc with the same lipo pack (maybe 30sec less).

Flight times so far:
10 min with a 900g payload (mavic 2 pro with battery) and a 5100mAh 6s R-line pack (until 3.71V rested). We put back 4900mAh.
17 min with a 650g payload (mavic 2 pro without battery) and 3 x 4000mAh 21700 Lion packs (until 2.9V in hover). We put back ~3300 per pack, so a total of ~10000mAh.

This is a flight where we mounted a Mavic 2 Pro in order to test how the mavic 2 can handle high speed and how a second operator could control the camera.

This is the 17min extremly boring test. The mavic 2 footage only shows about 16min of that but you can see the DVR arm time.

If you were to build it again today would you use the same parts? Anything you'd change?

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
