This build started out as an extra f/c I was gonna toss in the bin for spare parts. One boring day I was surfing YouTube and came across a video by Tmac where he built a 2.5" tadpole. That little thing was fit in the palm of his hand and zipped around like a 5" bigboy. Insperation sparked and spawned my version of a Armattan Tadpole. What a great little quad.
I started the build by putting motors on and seeing how much wire and room I had. After a few mock up of the electronics I decided to put the XM+ receiver on the bottom under the f/c and stacked the loris dvr on top of f/c and used a whitenoiseFPV 20x20 board for the TBS nano transmitter and mounted it forward of stack on stand-offs. I drilled the holes for standoffs a little off center with worries that the solder joints might touch top carbon plate on frame. Luckly everything fit with a few mm between video trans. and frame. I did use some tape between boards for insurance.
One the mock up was done I broke it all back down and started the full build. first was the wire sleeves for motors. Next I mounted the XM+ receiver and video antenna. Afterwards I installed the f/c and got all wires soldered inplace and left long for installation of other electronics. Here I checked the top plate to make sure it still fit in place and after conferming I continued by installing the Caddx Loris, FPV system, and srewed it all together.
At this point I went into BetaFlight used the setting TMac showed in his video and went flying. A few changes of rates and PID's to fine tune for my flight style. With a custom 2s-500mah battery I'm getting 6-8min flight times and with a custom 2s-1000mah it gets 10-12mins.
By far my favorite drone to fly. The Caddx Loris is a really good dvr, FPV cam is a bit cloudy but with a ND16 and some tuning of cam setting the DVR looks nice.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Very impressive packaging/use of space!!!!!
thank you, It got a little aggravating and tight. Nothing worked right until I put the XM+ receiver under f/c. XM+ on the whitenoise board was hitting top plate of frame.
