I christened this the "Ninja" because it uses Flywoo's ninja motors and I intended it to be an agile freestyle build, but I didn't pay enough attention to weight and it started out as a brick at 775g with a Hero 8. It's been through two rebuilds (analog -> DJI air unit and then DJI air unit -> Caddx vista) and is currently closer to 650g with a Runcam 5 Orange. "Frankenstein" would be a more fitting name. It flies excellent though, in no small part thanks to the 5" preset tune from UAV tech.
There's nothing particularly special about the build itself. The Vista (20x20) is awkwardly stacked on top of the ESC (30.5x30.5) because that's where the air unit that it replaced was positioned (the air unit doesn't fit in the rear of the Source One frame because of the standoffs). I used a 3d-printed stack adapter from RDQ and it worked fine. This probably results in better weight distribution anyway. The one bit of bling is some purple LED racewire which looks pretty cool in the dark.
Here's some cinematic flying with the GoPro Hero 8 + ReelsteadyGo:
And here's some freestyle with the Runcam 5 Orange and no stabilization:
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
