Building Big Blade Long Neck Monstrousity. I am at the point where I am no longer rushing to finish a build to go fly. Instead I'm taking my time enjoying the build process. Searching Thingiverse and Rotorbuilds for ideas and stl files. Having a 3d printer in this hobby is definitely helpful. Its like have a Replicator from Star Trek. The goal was to make a long range quad with a high power to weight ratio. Not quite beast class but using 8s ESC's from Iflight. Slammed Source One Beefy, redesigned by Travis Brann, reimagined and inspired by a recent interview by Nurk and Gab707. Shendrones Ichabod style mounted head.

Changed my mind about build. Weight has sky rocketed. 1845 grams! On top of that I keep popping ESC's. I have blown 4 in the last two weeks. I need to go back to the drawing board and lose some weight. Enjoy the pics of this version.

It shows! Really cool design mash up & build!
So I really like a lot of your designs/prints. I listened to that ep. of "The Good Flight" too, are you planning to film some downhill sports? Skiing, downhill mountain biking, longboarding, wingsuits?
I love the gooseneck in your cover shot, it looks too heavy, but it ALSO looks cool!
I live in the Great Pacific Northwest. So mountains and adventure sport opportunities will present themselves if I choose to follow that path. I just got a 3d printer and discovered I really enjoy remixing designs and creating my own. The gooseneck was too heavy and introduced to much jello in the GoPro. This is supposed to be a long range muscle quad, but the weight and jello just make it a poor back up dancer for Beyonce. I have to rethink what I actually want out if.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Nice project! Have you tried the 8S APD escs?
https://pyrodrone.com/products/apd-80a-f-series-80f3x-8s-34v-esc
Thank you for the kind words. APD was the ESC's I was going to originally buy, but mid way changed my mind because the motors are not tested with 8s on the tech specs. It was stupid to cheap out on such an important piece of hardware. RCaddict on YouTube had good luck with the iFlight's, and I've had very good results with other Iflight ESC's. Well no luck this time, so lesson learned again....I am stubborn sometimes. I might sell these motors and buy larger more 8s friendly motors as well as APD ESC's.
I use a tekko32 65A esc for 10" racer build and they works great with 3515 bh tornado motors, no need stronger esc for this size of builds :) Nice build, I love the cable management!
Thanks, I appreciate the compliment. I try to make the work look good as well as functional. Do you have any record of max amp draw on your set up? Brotherhobby specs 55 amp max draw for the 2812's on the bench so should only need about 30% less in the air roughly 39 amps
A only watch the osd max amp which was ~200 , but of course it's not a precise measure. I use this esc+motor combo for a year now without any issue. :)
