This is my first 5" build (budget build to see if I like this hobby...)
It's supposed to have an 800mW VTX, but it hasn't arrived yet, so I temporarily installed the HGLRC Zeus Nano VTX and it's actually been working great!
Seems to fly amazing so far, but to be honest I've got nothing else to compare it too.
I do wish the arms were a little beefier, but so far they've held up through quite a lot of crashes, although the majority have landed in the snow.
I dropped the top plate 5mm with shorter standoffs.
BTW, yes, after just a couple of months I'm already addicted to this.
I'm actually not even sure what I like more... building or flying?! LOL.
How is the range of both the quad and vtx?
The max I've got out is about 1.8km. The ImmersionRC Ghost system of course had absolutely no issues going that far.
I had swapped in a Eachine 805TX VTX at that point, which was set to 600mW and also had no major issues.
I think the max I can fly out-and-back with my 1350mAh battery is about 2km. I usually get 3.5 to 5 minute flight times depending on how aggressively I'm flying. I'm doing some upgrades to this build and I'll try to post the changes when I have a chance.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

For this being your first build it's SUPER CLEAN! Well done! How'd you decide on parts?
Thanks! The parts decision mostly came down to looking at some good builds here and also budget. I didn't want to spend too much since this was my first rig and wasn't sure if I'd like it, etc. So cheap Bangood motors, Flysky transmitter, etc. Since this I've now built about 6 different crafts, so ya, I'm hooked :) I should actually update this build, because I've changed the VTX to a TBS Unify Pro32 HV and changed to ImmersionRC Ghost RX. Oh and one of my motors died, so I just put Emax V2 2306 motors on it. Oh and I updated the arms to 6mm thick. LOL... I think that's it :)
LOL!🙃
