Long in the waiting... I've been researching/interested in quads for the better part of 3 years. The recent advances in technologies has made me want to build now more than ever. This is my first build!

This is a Micro Apex 4" that given where I live (Northern NH, heart of the White Mountains) will hopefully be somewhat multipurpose. I'm hoping for a generally stout frame that can do light freestyle and serve well for some mountain surfing. First was going to build this around the Catalyst Machineworks Shocker 4", then the Fouride 4". I thinkthe Apex 4" will be a bit more durable to learn on

I've gone with the Holybro Kakute F7 V3 stack mixed with the Stan_FPV 2203 3950kv V2 on 4S running the Gemfan 4023. I have a lot of interest in these motors given the amount of actual science he and Kabab_FPV are putting into their builds. Crossfire radio link, Caddx Vista with the nebula pro.

This thing is a beast!

Nice one. What batteries have you used and how does it go for flight times? Does it have enough power for freestyle?

It's a beast. Honestly I've been doing freestyle a lot more than i thought. With the tattu 850mah 95c i have been getting 6-7 minutes of moderately aggressive flying (5-6 punch outs, powerloops, and dives) i also bought some GNB 1100mah 130c, crazy power, similar flight times, but i feel the weight trying to pull out of dives.
Seriously, if you're even considering these motors, just do it! The first week I had to set an 85% motor limit in betaflight because I wasn't prepared for how much punch they had. now back to 95-100%.

If you're looking for more cruising drop down to the 2004 size. Truly, these motors are amazing.

Wow that's crazy flight times - I get about 4-5 mins on my Apex (2004 motors) if I'm lucky. How are you finding these motors a year later? I'm really tempted to try them, but it's a bit of a nightmare finding them in Europe :-/

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
