Printing this was straight forward. Building on the other hand was kinda finicky.
For the first test run, I build it without using an LC filter, but I might add one to make sure the camera is less noisy. Placement of the crossfire receiver is somewhat bad too. Due to it being so close to the VTX causes black lines in the FPV feed. I had similar issues on other quads and fixed it, my moving the two parts as far away as possible. Not an option here though.
First flight
It was okay. It does get off the ground and it stays in the air if I want to. No random crash and no other weird behaviour I haven't seen so far. So all in all, it just requires some fine-tuning.
Next steps
And in the end, it needs a bit more tuning. I tried Dave's initial Pid tune, BF's stock tune and The UAV's cruise tune. None of them worked perfectly well, so it just comes down to some fine-tuning to reduce wobbles a bit
All in all, thanks to Dave for the design, the BOM and the wiring schema. I had most of the parts since I wanted to build my own 1S babytooth, but ended building this thing instead.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
