Now I may or may not have a thing for frames with cam cages, but I loved how the Roma F5 frame looked right when I saw it announced. I ordered one not long after. Then the hard part began. What would I use for the rest of the build. For the past 2 years I've only flown 4s, so I wanted to step it up. I saw FPV G's review of the Velox Veloce V2, and I knew what would be the base of the quad, and also the colors. I ordered some custom blue hardware from Aliexpress, and then it was onto the rest of the parts.
I already had an HGLRC Zeus 20x20 F722 FC on hand, so I wanted to use that. To go with it, I also got their 800mw VTX, as not many 20x20 VTX's were available here, and I had good experiences with HGLRC parts before. I went with the Foxeer Razer Micro because it's cheap, and good. IMO it is the best camera for the money. I had some trouble choosing the ESC, as they constantly went in and out of stock. At first I planned on using the Diatone Mamba F50 30x30, but then that wouldn't be a clean stack. So I went for the smaller F40 Pro. That went out of stock just two days before I put the last order, so I instead chose the HobbyWing Xrotor Micro 40A, and it seems to
work great. And last, I got myself a full ELRS setup, with a DIY TX and the EP1 RX from Happymodel
Zeus F722 20x20 FC - I had the bigger version in my other quad, and it worked well. I had the 20x20 back from their promo deal, and it was mostly collecting dust, so I thought I might as well put it to use. The layout is nice, easy to solder to, and has plenty of UARTs to go with almost anything. The red color stands out a bit, but I kinda like the contrast, same as with the VTX
HobbyWing Xrotor Micro 40A ESC - Their 60A ESC is well known for being almost indestructible. And so should the smaller 40A one, right? So far it looks like it. haven't really gotten time to abuse it that much, but it performs well. Easy to work with, but the layout could be a bit better, the motor pads could be spaced out more
HGLRC 800mw VTX - Easy to mount in both 30x30 and 20x20, has both a plug, and solder pads, and the top side is completely clear of anything, so you can even put aditional parts right on it. The video is pretty clean, range is more than I could ever really use, and I think that for the price it's just about perfect
Foxeer Razer Micro - I like foxeer cameras, and for the price, it's really hard to beat the razer. It can sometimes go as low as $13, and I'd like to see anyone find a better cam for that price. There is nothing too special about it, but it just works
TMotor Velox Veloce V2 - TMotor has overdone themselves. These are the best looking motors I've seen, they're smooth to spin, look stunning, and are actually pretty reasonably priced. The 1950kv ones have a lot of punch, and so I had to underprop them a little. Other than that, really happy with them
Misc. stuff - I wanted to go ELRS, as I've only ever flown FrSky. I like the idea of tinkering with stuff, so I got a DIY 2.4GHz TX module, and an EP1 RX. The EP1 RX is tiny. A bit too much. It was kind of a challange to get it soldered up, but then it takes up zero space, and almost gets lost. I'm not one to run range tests, but I might get a GPS and try it out to see how far I can get.
Also the first build I really messed with wire sleeving. I like how it looks, it's insanely cheap for how good it can look, and also offers some protection. Not much, but it's there
(I'll add a video of the build, and pics of the build itself once I get it edited)
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
