Bought this as a BnF, flew for a while then one bad crash the VTX died. Decided to upgrade the VTX and RC Link to a TBS Unify Nano Pro32, and went to ELRS on the RC link with the Tinysled sled. The ELRS RX has the ceramic SMD antenna, no whisker or tee antenna to mount and get chopped and I've personally gone just under a mile on 250mw in the city with it. The Happymodel PP RX or EP1 would be better here as the DIY Nano is pretty thick. Word of caution though, the Tinysled VTX sled SUCKS. I had horrible video reception, rolling image, constant static, loss of color, etc and hard wiring it with some short silicone wire fixed that. ELRS 500hz on a toothpick is quite fun. You NEED to take off that PH2x2 connector and use a XT30 with a good 2s, it makes it fly like a totally different quad. The GNB 500mAh 90c 2s that FPV Cycle sells is perfect for the quad, I get a solid 6 to 8 min of flight time depending on how aggressive I am.
The stock Avan 2.5x1.9x3 props are okay, little too much prop wash for my liking. The Gemfan 2512 (2.5x1.2x3) props are the best for freestyle. The HQ T65 bi-blades have a lot of response but lack some grip. They are great for longer range cruising as they are super smooth, but I think they lack the grip needed for freestyle. I used a RDQ 650mAh 2s and got 15min of slow, steady flight.
The frame is really really stiff for the quad style, I was able to turn off most of the filters and leave RPM filtering on. This little thing is too much fun for how small and cheap it is and its great not only for first time drone pilots but also experienced pilots who want something cheap to bash around where their 4" or 5" might not fit.
Hi! Would you mind posting a picture of how you managed to set the sled up? It is my project for the next weekend and your warning has got me a bit nervous. Thanks for a fun build!
Just bought it and hadn't looked at it under the microscope. Bought it, after reading and hearing about in a couple of TH2 upgrade guides...
After reading your words, I ask myself ,why I did buy it? I thought it was at least "highly recommended" for what ever reasons.
But it seems just that it only solves the issue of probably mounting and/or very clean and small solder points, am I right? There's nothing the sled really does?
But just a quick picture would be very, very appreciated . Just so I see what I've going to get myself into g

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
