If I had to choose between the BetaFPV Knight and Ummagawd 2Fiddy, the 2Fiddy will be the clear winner for my flying style. That is why I am taking the guts from the XKnight 5" and building an Airblade's Transformer 5" long-range quad. Unfortunatly I am not able to use BetaFPV's AIO FC because it does not have enough UARTs, so I end up going with a Flywoo GOKU GN 745 AIO 40A board instead. Make sure you get the whoop style board and NOT the 20x20 because the seller sent me the wrong one. The 20x20 version is too big and does not fill well. You could turn the board 90 degrees, but the USB placement will be either facing the Caddx vista VTX or the camera.
The first quad I successfully setup a GPS to is an 7" Floss, and I used a TBS M8 v1 module. Since TBS stopped selling the v1 GPS, they replaced it with the M8-2. I was planning to use TBS M8-2 GPS but changed my mind because I found something else that might be better, the Matek M8Q-5883. Physically the only difference is the height (4mm taller), weight (2g more), and price ($22.49 more). Yes, the Matek GPS is over 3 times the price!!! So, I hold it is worth the extra cost.
When I finially got all the parts in and started to build, I did not notice the position of the USB plug is directly in front of the Caddx Vista. Unfortunately, I noticed the problem after I cut and soldered the motor wires.
I had to turn the FC 90degrees, so the USB is now pointing away from the Caddx Vista. The motor wires for the front had to be extended because it is too short after rotating the FC. I will need to remap the motors and the boards orientation.
Finishing Touches
After adding a few things things I end up add 4 more grams to the total weight. The first thing are the foam landing pads. Then I added 2 more screws for each motors and loctite all of them. Finially, the iflight BEC for the naked GoPro.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
