This is mathematically the best frame in 5" FPV currently. I built it up to be the best for me, especially for following cars. The 5226 props really make the weight melt away, and the 25mm motors have a ton of power and insane low-throttle smoothness. Currently running only d term low pass filtering, even then it's a single PT1 with a cutoff of 150hz. Minimal Phase Delay. I did grease the arm connections, and I was able to hit 2.0 on the master slider but backed it down to 1.8 to allow some room for damaged props and or debris. I was able to fly back from a crash with one corner only having 2/3 blades, the motors were absolutely toasty but it made it home ok.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Hey! Great Build and nice Videos!
How is the Frame doing in terms of crash resilience?
Is it more/less tough than other Freestyle Frames, and would you recommend it for my first 5" build ?
I am planning on flying cinematic and rip some bandos every now and then.
Take it easy and merry Christmas!
Thanks!
Its incredibly durable, I've yet to outright break anything on it thus far. However the cam plates do take a beating as they are the forward most carbon piece on the frame. they've split a bit but I've glued and clamped them a few times now just fine.
It should NOT be your first build. The regular AOS5 has some interesting design choices and the frame doesn't have a lot of internal space. It took some careful planning of my wire management to fit everything I wanted including a buzzer and capacitor/spike absorber.
The AOS5.5 mounts the arms on the underside of the main plate which gives you much much more room to build into. If you absolutely want a Rosser frame as your first I would recommend that.
But in general for first builds I recommend traditional style frames. I'd look into the FPV Cycle Glide (I have a build of that as well if you want to check it out), the Lumenier QAV-S JB edition, the TBS Source 1 V3 (specifically the V3, its more durable than the V4), and the ImpulseRC Apex. All of those are very durable and easy to build into for your first.
Thank you very much for your input.
I see, how the AOS5 is really tight and tough to build in.
I have built a TP3 (Toothpick 3") by Bob Roogi before , and it has worked out quite well.
The TP3 platform is really really tight, that the AIO soldering and wiring was a real workout, so i am confident in assembling a 5".
I recently have also taken a look at the "Prototype 5" Frame by FPVCycle which seems like a more refined version of the Glide.
Nonetheless, i think i prefer the AOS 5.5 for its versatility, since it weighs only a bit more, than the "Prototype 5" and looks even more Tough.
It seems like one could rig the AOS 5.5 as a Mid-Longrange Frame for some sweet mountain dives, without losing the zippyness of a 5" in Freestyle.
Do you agree in the AOS 5.5 being the right Frame for my use case?
The AOS5.5 would be a fantastic platform for mid-long range mountain surfing.
I would stay away from the Prototype 5, it has some resonance management issues.
I guess, in regard to the Camera-Cage splintering over time, some TPU would actually be beneficial.
How do you feel about the claims of some, that the Frame feels "weird" with the camera being in the very front (in front of the motors) of the frame?
Has it effected the "feel" in your opinion?
I haven't noticed to be honest.
