SX218 Rebuild

It's been a while since the last build posted here, but I've been busy with a particularly calculus-heavy semester. The plan was to get started on a space drop wing project this year but coursework was just too demanding. Now that the semester is over with I can resume work on some flying wings and fly a couple quads over break, at last.
To start off, I went through and refreshed my primary 5" build - I had ordered these iFlight Xing2 2405s in 1800kv almost 6 months ago and only just now got around to swapping them out. I wanted a little more stator volume to handle switching from Split cameras to the Runcam 5 Orange, but wanted to keep the throttle curve I was used to. This SX218 build has seen a multitude of minor changes over the past year, mostly trying different analog cameras, props, HD camera mounts, and so on. It's one of the few builds that has retained individual ESCs rather than going to 4in1, and I find the Airbot Wraith Mini fits over the frame arm perfectly with no overhang. Anchor adhesive-lined 3/4" shrink around the ESC and the arm results in a really durable seal, and the stuff conforms and hardens almost like hot glue after shrinking. Removing the old stuff was tough, it's very strong shrink tubing.
The HD camera mount is an original design that I made in Solidworks about a year ago, specifically for the SX218. If anyone is interested in this mount, let me know and I can provide STLs, I made 35 and 45 degree variants, they fit the Runcam 5 Orange very tightly, and might work with a Session as well.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
