This is my second HDZero build. Being an analog guy who primarily flies micros my first HDZero build was made primarily for capturing the 720p video in tight spaces. I wanted my second build “This One” to be not only stable for video capture and able to get into tight spaces but also able to freestyle.

I have built multiple analog Babymod is various sizes and really like the frame’s balance so chose to go with the 3.5inch and a unibody frame. The Hakrc 35amp AIO was very easy to work on and fits this frame very nicely and with it being a 20x20 the HDZero Race 2 was a no brainer. I went with the Brother Hobby 2005 2800kv which offers good power through 4s or 6s with the xt30 acting as a current limiter and protecting the motors while powered on 6s. Using a GNB 6s 550mah it is sub250.

I’m really pleased with how it turned out and love that the 2005 motors can take advantage of HQ Prop Duct 89MMX8 Octa-Blade 3.5" Cinewhoop Prop for some very stable recording as well as insane punch outs. Tri-bladed props offer a normal freestyling experience.

This is such a fun build that it’s probably going to end up as my neighborhood daily driver as it’s near silent at hover using the Octo-Props with a hover point at around 30% with lots of punch and quickness unsuspecting people at a glance don’t really know what they saw as it’s gone in a flash. It’s been so funny watching people scratch their heads as they wonder what it is they just saw.

I did run into my frist HDZero issue with this build. I could get video but no betaflight OSD even on the latest version and with everything configured properly. Turns out you will still get video if RX/TX is reversed with HDZero, just no OSD. lol

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
