I have been contemplating the idea of a Dave_C NanoLR (long range) build. The build has not gone smoothly, partly to some unlucky shipping and customs event, partly due to me taking way too long time to put things together.

Part of the build has been shipped from FPV Cycle from California, but due to the shipping company (USPS) and Swedish Customs Office not talking to each other after a nearly 3 months long journey the package has just been sent back to FPV Cycle without me even having the possibility to declare it or having any chance to look at it. Later I have learned the USPS is the culprit in such cases, so avoiding them is the best practice.

In the end I have built the NanoLR and it has been crap. Way too heavy, way to flimsy, the FC has overheated constantly and I have suffered from video signal desync events due to my VRX on my goggles. I have crashed it several times, then the 3D-printed frame has given up and I have given up on it.

So I have decided to use the parts in a 1,5 mm BabyTooth frame build. So I have done precisely that. And it flies like a dream. Very silent, no overheating, just goes without any problems.

I have managed to damage the stupidly small connector that comes with the RunCam Phoenix 2 Nano. I have removed the connector and have soldered quality silicone wires directly onto the board. I have to say it hasn't been easy, I have used a magnifying glass. But I have managed to "save" the camera.

Dry weight 50,4 grams (which is actually heavier despite the 1,5 mm frame than my original BabyTooth on 2 mm frame).

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
