This is my first build. Only had bind and fly quads before, so I wanted to build one myself for the experience. Since I only used a 4s before I wanted to try a 6s. Also, I only had analog drones before, so I wanted to try a digital one this time. Hdzero was the system of choice mainly for the simplicity of buying the VRX and attaching it to my Skyzones, however the fixed latency is also very nice. Since I live in Brazil it was a little hard to get all the parts. The frame I got directly from china (ali express), but the electronics were by a contact or on trips to the USA.
The VTX is very big so the packaging was difficult. The FC capacitor was also giant, so I rotated the stack and left the capacitor in the front. The antenna is a bit longer than I would like, and since the U.FL connector is so close to the back of the drone I accidentally bend the connector on the VTX. I had to re-bend it manually to a circle so I could connect the antenna again. Definetivelly going with a pigtail for the next build.
I chose the Speedybee f405 v3 for the price/ features ratio. The frame and motors I went with Iflight since I like their products and my main bind and fly is a evoque 4s.
The camera is a Runcam nano hdzero v2, I accidentally bought it instead of the micro version. It's the same sensor however the lens has a very noticeable distortion of the borders. I will try to adapt but I may also buy the micro in the future.
The TPU parts I printed myself. I wanted a different color than green\ yellow that most of the bind and fly quads adopt. Some I modified to fit my needs. But it's very easy to find parts for this frame online.
I really liked the overall looks and I had fun building it. Especially since I could do it with my father which is a plus.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
