Unfortunately, the original FlosStyle by KababFPV is hard to get these days, so I gave Leaco's version/copy a chance.
The first thing I realized with this frame: the 20mm mounting holes in the back are too close on the boomerang arms. Hence, I had to rasp down some carbon, to get the required space for the screw heads.
One more thng which is really difficult to see on pictures and made me close to cry in the end: the front arms have less clearing for the props, compared to the back arms. These are 5.1" props which have 2mm clearing to the frame in the back but only 0.1mm clearing in the front. Let's see how this will behave in the field.
On some pictures you see Dalprop 5.1" foldable props - these are 1mm into the frame - so I had to replace them with Gemfan 51466 ones (the are 1mm shorter).
This build took way longer, compared to my Standar-II 220 Purple, Green, and Red - even if these are all similar looking low-rider-like freestyle frames. There're just 20mm vertical height available, so finding space for all components is a little challenge.
I aimed for low weight and simplicity - e.g. I'm using rather alloy screws instead of steel ones, which I do quite often to save weight. In terms of robustness, I can deal with the implications ;) The ESC is turned by 90 degrees - so I had to re-map the motor pin assignments within Betaflight.
Mounting the ELRS dipol antenna via Kepton tape is an experiment. I hope this lasts long enought - since the antenna itself is very liteweight.
As usual, all solder points are coated with transparent nail top coat, which is dirty cheap and secures the electronics from water (think of e.g. wet gras).
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
