This build is based on Micro X68 - Brushless 2s Tiny-Whoop-ish and can be considered a rework.
I was not satisfied with handling the 2 LiPos (2x1s to gain 2s) and decided to stick with 1s. Also I wanted to reduce weight, by replacing the Super_S Stack with a modern single FC board with ELRS receiver and VTX included.
Also, the DYS BE0703 motors were OK, in terms of power, but their press-fit shaft did not withstand me switching propellers, and so I accidentally removed the bell of a motor, twice. These new HappyModel motors use c-clips to prevent such.
Getting the onboard ELRS receiver working with latest ELRS 3.1.x and EU LBT settings took quite a while and required me to use a custom build, luckily provided by Dale Larson, Betaflight 4.3.1 with ELRS 3.0 SPI Support.
I own the frame for quite some time and I'm no more able to find a proper link to buy it ... hence the link in the part list below shows the BND version - whereas I only bought the frame.
The LED mount looked solid, but unfortunately did not survive the first handful test flights. I ripped of the solder pads and now can't use LEDs anymore :/
The motor wires are glued with transparent Rubber Dip (Plasti Dip) to stick them to the frame. Also, I put some Rubber Dip on the carbon frame parts at the botton to avoid slipping of batteries.
The cam OV231 delivers, despite its age, actually quite a solid video performance. It easily outperforms other cheap super lightweight cams, but is somewhat second place IMHO to a Caddx Firefly or Caddx Ant Lite. The cam weights just 1,8g (in the picture it was tared with the plastic bag before).
The camera mount I also have at my desk for some years already and it's super lightweight, just 0,6g - unfortunately I can't find a store to get fresh ones anymore. If you know one or have some spare ones for me, please ping me :)
The total flight time is about 4m with cruising speed. And, there's a very recognicable difference with the GNB27 connectors, compared to the PH2.0 I used before. I observe less voltage drops.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
