Carnage 4.5" sub250g analogue

New build for a new year. I really like sub250gfpv's Carnage 3.5" frame and it's my go to, but thought I could do with something a little bigger. I have some 250g 5" quads but they so fragile, hoping this will be a good compromise.

I calculate this has approximately 17:1 thrust to weight ratio at full throttle.

Have gone for a two-tone blue pink spray paint coat. 3mm blue LED strip with a 12v regular (means I need a 20mm stack).

AIO is a Foxeer Reaper v3, but it;'s

22/12/2022 - Painted the frame, two coats KOBRA and some clear lacquer, not expecting the paint to last in any case.

18/01/2023 - Pretty much complete but comes in at 251 grams. I plan to save this by shortening the XT30, replacing zip ties with fabric tape and trimming the battery strap. Paint peeling around screws.

19/01/2023 - Having issues with the provided antenna mounts. The single antenna mount gets in the way of the battery, so I took the digital/dual antenna mount and chopped the top off, this fixes the battery problem, but with the 20mm standoffs I'm using, the rear antenna causes prop strikes. I'm chopped away some TPU and have done a hover test. Hover point is at 9% throttle. I've created a quick but functional antenna mount of my own to fix this. I have also used some loom bands to stop the LED strip coming away from the arms.

Now at 244g with a 530mah 4s GNB LiHV!

21/01/2023 - Maiden done and it's an enjoyable quad. Unfortunately, awful noise on the VTX. I'm going to try a) mounting the Sixty9 the other way around, so the shield is facing the AIO and b) turning off the 12v regulator for the LEDs.

22/01/2023 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5802797 alternative antenna mount for the frame, prevents the prop strike I had with 20mm standoffs and makes space for a battery. More flights today, good fun but I've found some oscillations when turning quickly, I'll try turning on RPM filtering which is something I've not played with on previous builds.

Hi, I want also to build carnage 4.5" but preferably with a naked hero 11 which wont land under 250gr then. Besides bigger motors and the LED strip is there any more where weight could be shaved off? Thought of going with a whip antenna for the vTx worst case

And what about the voltage sag? You use bigger motors instead of the 1804 plus a smaller battery than the recommended 4s 750mah. I plan to use it on slower parking drift so not a longer period super highspeed build

Thats nice! Got a link to the LED strip anywhere?

Dude, people are sleeping on the 4.5" prop.. I have built a few 2fiddy's with 5" arms, and run specifically 4.5" props with higher kv motors. They are so quick, and nimble! Would be cool to see a couple of other props in 4.5"!

That is a sharp looking build! Great colors 🤙

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
