My custom BetaFPV 95x v1 build was a disappointment when it came to flight performance. Despite trying to tune the frame, I could never get an enjoyable flight experience.
After a crash that destroyed the frame, I decided to switch to a locally sourced 3" toothpick frame, convinced that the ducked props were to blame for the poor flight performance.
To complete the rebuild, I needed to make some adjustments. I scaled the 3d printed canopy to fit the new frame, and had to extend the motor wires, using red silicon-coated wire I had on hand. I tried out Emax Avan mini 3" props, but with air mode enabled, the drone just shot to the sky. So, I decreased the motor idle, but still got violent bouncing and blast-offs. That's when I decided to switch to bi-blades, which turned out to be the perfect solution.
The final build weighed in at 64.84g without a battery and 106.14g with a GNB 550mah 3s. The flight time was amazing compared to any of my other quads, providing me with around 15 minutes of flight time. I could even grab a storage charged battery and still get 5-8 minutes of freestyle ripping. This quad has quickly become a favourite.
Nice build. Looks fun. How's the carbon of that frame. Nice and stiff?
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
