Decided to convert my TH2FS into a micro winter porch flyer to help get me through the snowy months. Ironic that I'm only getting around to posting this build on the first day of summer. Now my go-to is my Babyhawk 2 HD. Anyway for the Tinyhawk I added a 400 mw vtx, rhcp antenna, metal standoffs, a RunCam Thumb Pro (v1), and conformal coated everything. Range, video quality, and durability have been greatly improved. Has survived at least 2 crashes in deep snow, and I still get 3.75-4.5 minutes of flight time with the stock 2x 1S power system. Can definitely feel the weight as expected, but the quad flies far better than I imagined it would. I went through a couple different iterations for the antenna mounting, and ultimately settled on having it laid flat with the bottom plate (see last 3 pics). This solved the little bit of bobble I was getting with the ziptied vertical setup, and suprisingly has not effected transmission quality at least to a noticable extent. All-in-all very happy with how this turned out.

man this makes me miss my THFS. I loved that quad and I had so much fun with it. That was around the time i started experimenting with different frame designs too because of how durable that FC was. Took a whole 2 years, lots of crashing, and a dunk in a pool to die. Motor pads ripped off too but scratch off the lines leading to the pads and it would still work just as it did. Even the frame inspired all my current designs with the double braced format.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
