Meatyore 65 low carb diet

picked up an [un]used betafpv meteor65 for a great deal. crossfire too!
the latest version of the canopy is really solid but heavy.

one of the motors were struggling to start, initially I thought maybe a fet was bad but eventually turning up the startup power in the ESC settings fixed it. The motors are pretty coggy so maybe it needed it although all the other motors had no issues with the default settings.

The BNF meteor65 crossfire was 23.5g and after some work I got it down to 19.6g.

The 3.9g diet:
-removed motor connectors, shortened motor leads
-changed crossfire receiver out for a happymodel ep2 ELRS receiver
-shorten power lead, offset with a gnb27 connector
-trimmed the canopy
-swapped the linear antenna for a simpler one

I bet that was super satisfying, did you fly before and after?
I would have made myself fly it for a week before, to appreciate the gains. 20% reduction in weight in this class, I know i'm preaching to the choir here, but that's uuuuuge!

yeah, super satisfying. no, I didn't fly it at all actually haha. my currently flying whoops (besides the recent 17g) are all 21-23g with similar specs so I don't expect anything too different.. Yeah, sub 19g really wakes it up. 17g is amazing. I'm scheming something even lighter now.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
