This is our new favorite sub-250g build based on the Flywoo Explorer LR4, with a weight of 41g.
The idea was to build an agile sub-250, with decent flight times, equipped with GPS for occasional LR runs. Using the T-Motor F1404 motors, the build is really reactive and can also be used for freestyle. When the throttle is managed, the consumption drops, and the drone becomes really efficient. The main con of using these motors with this frame is that the mounting holes for the rigidity bars don't fit the motor mounting pattern. We simply removed them with no great issues for the moment.
It carries a Naked GoPro camera, and the drone shares the battery with it. It weighs 127.34g with its Kevlar strap. Flight times are great, with about 5 minutes with a GoPro recording in 4K with a LiPo 4S 450mAh, and about 7 minutes with a LiPo 4S 650mAh.
Originally thought for using 4024x2 (foldable?) props, it works great with 3052x3 props, which make it fly rock steady and fast.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
