Whoa, so not me! Scrolling through the latest builds on RB I suddenly realized I did not put on my new daily.
Frame used: the BabyMod 2.5" (3/3.5") modular open source frame.
I figured this way I can use the top plate with O3 mounted and swap it easily over on another frame without having to rebuild each time. So far I've been flying it non stop for the past month or so.
Ended up with re using the fc from my first dji/vista build as I hardly flew that one. Ordered 1202.5 6000kv and strictly flying it on 4s. I would not be myself if I didn't scrape unnecessary weight so the O3 stack and cam had to undress. Unfortunately my fc usb port was broken already on the previous build so I had to fly with the settings from 2yrs ago. Rates were lower than my usual which I turned out to quite like alot! I think max roll 6/700 ish.
I can go on but the thing is a rocket, I used 450mah 4s mainly but 650mah is also do able. With 4s it tosses around so nice and has some good momentum to hang. With a ridiculous punch on tap. The motor size was kind of expirimental, I thought too light but man was I wrong. I totally did not expect this to feel so locked in. Took it with me on holiday and flew tens of packs per day in the major back yard there.
EDIT (Dec 30 2024): I bought a Genmitsu 3020 Pro almost a year ago, finally got myself to dive into the CNC rabbithole, it was a blast so far. Steep(er) learning curve than let's say 3d printing but I managed to get familiar with Fusion360 and Universal GCode Sender. Couple of hours of YouTube vids spread over several days, fiddling with the cnc and a 'air run' first before actually go at it with carbon fiber sheets.
I always wanted colored quad frames instead of boring black, I ordered 2 plates from Ali 2mm/2.5mm thick. I am quite happy with the result and the cutting precision is astonishing. Ordered a few different colors carbon fiber to change my fleet.
The most time consuming was to (learn to) change the design of the top deck in Fusion from being able to house a Vista 20x20mm to O3 25.5x25.5mm but after some swearing and cussing I found out how to.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
