AOS UL5 V5

Going for a lightweight long-range 5-inch. Originally mocked up with AOS Supernovas but I could not fit an appropriately sized ESC into this frame. Switched the motors to Emax Eco II 2004 1600kv, which seem to be a much better match for the project. I'm going to fit Gemfan 5" lightweight bi-blades (LR 5126-2).

The build came together nicely once the motors and stack arrived. The Flywoo stack was wonderful to work with and I took full advantage of the plugs on the FC to connect the GPS and RX. This was my first experience with AM32 - no issues so far. It's interesting hearing totally different startup sounds as I have only ever had BLHeli before!

GPS is mounted at the front to avoid interference from the O3. I remixed a 3D model that allows the GPS to be mounted to the horizontal standoff at the top of the camera cage. This works perfectly, and I get 12+ satellites right away.

As I got near the end of the build, I decided to mount the battery in the 'toilet tank' fashion just for variety. It turns out this orientation was a better way to mount the bigger 18650 pack.

Here's the maiden flight:

It flies very smooth with Chris Rosser's tune for this frame.

Update: switched battery strap to normal. I got a 25 minute flight with a 6s1p 3000mah li-ion pack.

Another update: the GPS module has been replaced with a Flywoo GM10 mini V3 and the long-ass VTX antenna replaced with a Flywoo bipolar dual-band (150mm). Both perform very well - I got lock on 27 stats and around 30mbit to my Goggles 2 from 5km away.

I'm noticing what appears to be very small vibrations in the video sometimes. Doesn't look like the jello I've seen on other O3 builds, but more subtle like the camera going briefly out of focus. Otherwise, near-perfect build. It flies beautifully. Here's some highlights from two flights this weekend:

I got my frame delivered yesterday and spent the entire night building it. I did my maiden flight today on a 1000 mah lipo and got almost 15 minutes. I am shocked I got it to fly right away being my very first build lol. I am encountering a lot of wobble at hover speeds and low throttle. I applied Chris Rossers preset. Not sure how to tune unfortunately. I see a filter preset and a pid tune preset am I supposed to apply both?

Yes, you're meant to apply both PID and filters. There's usually a little room for fine tuning with the blackbox but I'd say he gets you 85% there. Congrats on your first build!

Great. That was probably my issue. I think I only applied the filters. I wont be able to test it for a couple of weeks. Have to go out of town for a while. I tried uploading a pic of my build but not showing up here. Threw a build with a pic quickly together under my profile. Thanks again. Looking forward to testing it

I just ordered this frame and parts as my very first build similar to your setup. So you happen to have a link to the gps remix for mounting to the front?

Thank you so much. I'm so new to doing a build I'm not well versed on what is the best configuration. Only bought BNF until now. I ordered RCINPOWER 2104 1800KV motors and 5 inch 2 blade props with a Speedy bee 35A stack. Wondering if it's possible to do LR on 4s or not. I haven't decided on batteries yet and whether xt30 would be sufficient or not. I'd be super happy getting 15 min cinematic flights.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
