Wow..this build has been dragging on and on...and on.
I must've built like 6 or seven rigs in the time this has been sitting in mock-ups
Well let's try and be brief but accurate.
Anyone looking at my builds can see I love the old Bot5 from BQE and one of the reasons for me is just that it's the ultimate compromise between:
Now I'm on the dEMIBOT and grinderino train like everyone else
I am aware that BQE is not active anymore (which really suX) and they're just selling off old stock...and I also heard there were some issues. For some reason I see their designs as ideas from "the innovative era" of FPV... unfortunately before I started, but lots of cool ideas and very functional designs, ok prices...and I just scored an old BotAFX...yaY
So yes, what's my point? Here it is: I honestly haven't seen too much innovation that actually improves 5 inch designs in the past 2 years or so, sure.. we got split decks and buses with minor variation. The Quadmula team makes an affordable frame with lots of mounting options, Speedy Bee has some cool and sleek passive cooling built in...but do they weigh less, are more rigid and do they fly better? I'm not sure, at least looking at what I've tried and what I hear on YouTube and read in the forums. Don't get me wrong, lots of innovation has happened when it comes to electronics, such as ESCs, AIOs, FCs, VTxs... honestly all components have improved and become more affordable and smaller/lighter, which also makes smaller builds better performant and more fun...but in the 5inch space...?
So ... at the risk no one ever reads this... who cares. I love this forum and it's a great place to archive and track this exciting journey in the hobby.
Looking forward to trying more builds, playing with some new VTx systems...Analog is coming back baby!!! Because...eff DJI....and eff rotor riot, redcat and unusual machines. Pushing the hobby into the defense industry is a sad testament to our failures as a community. And yes they use a lot of analog...I know... but yeah, make quads to freestyle not to bomb people. And also, the Camo is a conscious choice for this rig, because I firmly believe in the right to self defense and self determination, just not in the rite to finance other countries war crimes. So for anyone that's too much of a simp to understand --> sure, buy the parts and build them for what you need to do. That's a given. But specifically cater to, posture and signal to others who have no skin in the game that using the hobby to enrich yourself of war is simply disgusting
so yeah...loL so much for staying "brief"

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
