I love the Fly Fish Rc Volador frames. This is my 4th Volador frame ive built so far. Two of them are 5 inch and two are 3.5 inch frames. They are great solid frames and I love how easy it is to build them. On with the build and thought process:
For this build I wanted to run 1804 motors, Diatone mini stack and of course Walksnail V3 VTX with micro camera. The way the stack is designed it was creating a bit of an issue with the spacing between the mid plate as well as the clearance between the two boards. I had to use some m2 o rings on the bottom before I mounted the ESC and then I had to take the ESC shield off and add another set of o rings between the ESC and FC. I didnt want to squish them too much or have a tiny gap with a possibility of shorting something out during a crash. All of my builds I have remixed the antenna holder tpu to include a xt60 holder as well since I am not a fan of having battery leads rubbing against the carbon. Ive had a few cables nicked like that and I didnt like how it didnt look as clean/neat as I like them to be.
Once everything was mounted I put on some liquid electrical tape on the bottom and top of the esc battery leads because I do not want the capacitor solder joint touching the carbon during a crash. Had that happen before and I burnt an ESC that way.
Moving on to the motors I had some 4mm gold and black wire mesh sleeve to cover the wires and make it look neater. I cut them to size, burn the ends so they dont get frated and then once they are on the wires Ill take some heat shrink wrap and add it to each end to keep it all tidy.
My last thing was the RX and with that I usually put it on top of a VTX in a TPU mount but since I didnt have anymore long screws I decided to give the under mount tpu that was provided with the frame a shot. A bit finicky to get it all seated properly especially with not being able to move it forward a bit to keep the antenna straight, I just rotated the RX a bit to use up some slack. I also added some double sided tape to the RX before I put the TPU on to keep it in place and make it snug.
Overall the build was pretty fun and easy to set up. If you have any questions please leave a comment.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
