Continuing on my journey of 'bigger acro quads' - I really enjoy the 7inch I built end of last year and still eye a 12S X-Class in the near future so wanted to build a powerfull 10" as an internediary step. First time using individual ESC's and Power Distribution Board, soldering 10AWG cables, XT-90's,... so an interesting challenge. I also wanted to use those big 6S 5600mAh batteries that I will run on the X-Class.

I picked up the Super G frame as a few people are raving about it (Bardwell being one of them ) - I wanted big motors so went with the brand new AOS 3220 and coupled them with some Sequre ESC's. Motors are 'only' 925kv so I made sure I have an 8S capable stack - just in case it is a bit too sedate for my taste.

Frame is pretty much a 7 inch body with longer & beefier arms so not tons of space for batteries and components in there - hence the decision to mount the battery under the drone and having the ESC's on each arms.
Lee @ 3d-aqua (ebay UK) came through once again with those LED arm guards. I designed a couple of 'strap plates' to hold extra straps front and rear in place - those batteries are 800g so 3 straps feels about right!

First flight went extremely well - using the default UAV 10" tune with a main slider set to 0.7 to compensate for the bigger motors. Conditions were far from ideal with loads of wind but quad handled it very well with just the odd buffeting visible in the feed. The most surprising was just how silent the quad is - despite using some quite big 10x5x3 HQ Macro Quad props. Looking forward to test it further in the coming days - quite chuffed with the result :)

AUW: 2.270 kg (with the Gen Ace 6S 5600mAh battery)

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
