Pyrodrone had the Goggles X on a Cyber Monday sale for $400, and I had enough points for a $30 coupon, so I was able to pick them up for $370.

I originally had a Moonlight VTX in a Pavo20 Pro, but it kept breaking props and cracking the frame, so I decided to bite the bullet and build a real life full-size 5 inch.

I downloaded every 3D print I could possibly find for this ApexDC frame. I printed most of them and then fit them to the frame to see which ones I liked the most. After trial and error, and some slight modifications, I think this setup is perfect. I am especially proud of the ELRS reciever cubby that I made that secures to the front standoffs right behind the camera. The ELRS antenna runs under the vtx and stack and out the back.

The antenna mount rear-end design is by a guy called Tim O'Brien. If you fly FPV, you should know who he is. He makes 03 mounts, GoPro mounts, and antenna mounts for every quad imaginable. Each one made to order, from his Discord. Here is the link to his printables page: Tim O'Brien Printables

I got all the hardware from Pyrodrone and the red cone washers from Amazon. I replaced the yellow stack spacers with red and black of my own. All the 3D printed feet are secured with blue aluminum m3x10 screws. Even though the 04 air unit just came out, I would not trade this system for that one. My Goggles X are amazing and almost no one I meet at FPV stuff has them, they all have used DJI gear. The Moonlight on stock settings at night and in the day is extremely impressive. I've had lots of people ask me if it was GoPro footage.

I made the cable from the Moonlight to the FC out of a kit from Amazon, using all black wires to show off. Also the wires from the stack to the ELRS reciever are all black as well. It's a little bit harder to keep organized but once it's done, it looks cleaner.

Let me know if you have any questions and happy flying!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
