This project started with the goal to build a sub-250g 5-inch FPV drone including the battery. After extensive experimentation, the result is one of the most efficient long-range — achieving a remarkable 51 minutes of flight time at around 2,300 meters above sea level.
Frame & Flight System
The build is based on the Ummagawd 2fiddy frame — a lightweight and durable frame . For propulsion, I used MAMBA TOKA 2004 1700KV motors.
The flight controller is the Axisflying Argus F7 40A AIO F722 all-in-one package. To reduce overall weight, every component matters,
Propulsion & Video System
The propellers are HQProp 5.1" bi-blades, offering a great balance of thrust and efficiency.
For video transmission, the drone runs a DJI Caddx Vista digital system paired with the Nebula Pro camera
Battery
The power source is a custom-built 6000mAh 4S 21700 Li-ion pack, built by myself at Litio-House, my lithium battery development start-up in Mexico. This pack is optimized for long-range performance while keeping weight as low as possible.
Radio:
Frsky x9 lite with crossfire Tx ground
crossfire nano receiver in the drone
Tuning & Flight Results
To maximize efficiency and compensate for the additional battery weight, PID tuning was adjusted. The drone was flown at an altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level, where it reached a total flight time of approximately 51 minutes
There’s still room for optimization, and I’m sure that this record could be extended even further.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

interesting project, congrats!
why are you using 20xx motors instead of lighter 18xx like the fifty 5 from flyfishrc? more torque probably? more weight fore sure.
there are 20xx lighter motors , probably I would try it, but compared to 18xx , the torque is pretty important and the match with the 5.1 inches props makes it better with the 20xx
The choice is difficult between additional torque and additional mass. If go to my page you will see two different version of my Atlas 4". In fact for efficiency I prefer my 1404 instead of 1804 because of weight, but the fun factor is a bit less with smaller motors.
Can you tell us more about the li-ion cells you are using? are you using aluminium screws?
