Presentation of the TWIGLET O4 – My new 2" 2S ultralight

Here is the presentation of my first 2-inch 2S drone, based on the famous BETAFPV TWIGLET, revisited in the O4 version!
Designed to be light, agile, and fun, this quad combines technical optimizations and personal adjustments to offer a unique flying experience.

The TWIGLET O4 was built to optimize both weight and budget.
I reused some components from my previous 2" 2S drones, which allowed me to save money while keeping a solid and proven base.

Propellers: Gemfan 2023S
Meteor O4 canopy replacing the original cage, lighter and with an efficient damping system
JHEMCU G474ELRS AIO FC, latest generation, with integrated Blackbox
DJI O4 Air Unit for a clean HD feed without jello

Final result: only 43 g without battery, and about 72 g in flight with a Li-HV LAVA 2S 550 mAh.

Compared to my older 2" 2S builds:

Weight reduced: the new build is about 5 g lighter, making it noticeably more agile

Improved flight time: about 1 extra minute in cruising thanks to reduced weight and more efficient props

Better reliability: the new ELRS RX offers much more stable signal and range than the previous one

Easier tuning: the integrated Blackbox allows precise analysis and PID tuning, which was not possible before

In short: lighter, more reliable, and more efficient.

Depending on the flight style, the TWIGLET O4 offers surprising endurance for its size:

Slow cruising: more than 8 minutes
Dynamic cruising: about 6 minutes
Freestyle: about 4 minutes

Motors and electronics:

Motors: GEPRC SpeedX2 1102 10000KV, really stronger than my previous happymodel ex1102.

Flight controller: JHEMCU G474ELRS AIO (optimized wiring, motor plugs removed, integrated Blackbox for detailed flight analysis)

Radio receiver: new ELRS RX, much better and more reliable than the previous one

Weight in flight: about 72 g with Li-HV 2S 550 mAh

Power-to-weight ratio: excellent, giving explosive acceleration and great maneuverability

Flight behavior and tuning

The TWIGLET O4 already flies very well with the default Betaflight 4.5.2 settings, simply with the RPM filter enabled.
This gives a smooth, stable, and responsive quad without the need for immediate PID tuning.

In flight, it stands out for:
exceptional agility thanks to its very light weight
immediate response to stick inputs
clear and stable HD O4 video, even during aggressive maneuvers
the ability to refine performance using the Blackbox for advanced tuning

It is a perfect quad for flying in a parking lot, garden, or light freestyle spot, always with smoothness and fun.

Conclusion

The TWIGLET O4 2" 2S is a true little fun machine:

ultralight
agile and dynamic
with very decent flight time for a 2-inch

designed in an economical and optimized way, reusing components and adding modern, efficient electronics

Compared to my previous builds, it offers more lightness, more flight time, and much better reliability, while keeping a simple and effective setup.
It is the ideal platform to enjoy the DJI O4 HD system without compromising on weight or flying experience.
