So... I finished my build to find out a critical problem! The kit I got came with 5" arms!!! I will be working with Rotor Riot to resolve this. I am debating between scrapping the 6" build and retrofitting 2350KV motors on the frame to have a industry standard 5" kit. It seems like converting the build to have 6" arms would require a LOT of rework. Word of caution, always double check that the arms are the correct length. Lay propellers on the arms on the frame before putting it together!!! I guess I will have to wait for my next build will have to be a 6" :(
I will go through my progress as I build this monster. I have been watching build videos for too long now. I am waiting on some soldering gear before I can get into the core of the kwad. Right now I am working through the camera mount. The Runcam Swift RR edition is not happy with the alien camera mount. The bolts provided in the kit are M2 size threads and the screws are M1.6 equivalent size, they might be US units no.0 screws with a pitch of 56 threads per inch. I guessed the length needed as 5/16 and bought a box from mcmaster carr. I will keep you updated on if these work out well.
The mcmaster carr no0 x 5/16" wood screws seemed to work out nicely! I also used washers to increase the surface area against the carbon. With the side mount screws, I noticed the camera seemed loose. I used the extra silicone wire insulation from stripping the larger gage wire as a rubber washer to secure the mount against vibration.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

Currently I am flying it with Gemfan 5.1 props from the local hobby store. I have some concern over using 2000KV motors in the meantime while I wait for 2350KV motors.
