My showtime quad. Mostly LOS for friends or as a spare quad for flight trip.
(I usually fly 6 inch Chameleon)
I just wanted to try famous Alien 5 frame, but it ended up like this. Thanks to Stikitskins.com for inspiring me.
Needlessly thick and long wires, heavy LED board.. dont ask the weight. Flies great though. (8K/8K/PT1/notch 1-2 removed)
If you add some weight to look better and you like it, emotional thrust adds up and compensates imo
COB LED is mounted right under Gopro mount, illuminates everything inside.
One thing I wanted to add was to move VTX into FC stack and put a LEGO figure with LED in rear space lol
Should have done this with 6 inch frame.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

What do you think of this as my first build? I have a lot of experience with the drl sim and I have a taranis x9d.
I think Alien is a very good beginner's quad if you go for quality build.
Quite durable and easy to put things all together. It has huge space.
Just keep in mind this is not a light and compact frame which is kinda trending.
Regarding electronics, DYS F4 is pretty good. You might have some issue connecting SBUS receiver, I just uninverted everything on X4RSB. You can check Project Blue Falcon for instructions.
You can use other ESCs you want. These comes with heatsink and LED but not the best ESC.
If you want to fly it with prop sound like Mr.Steele, Tramp is the only VTX with audio and vtx control via Taranis or OSD. (I think there is Helix VTX and maybe Diatone SP series but quite heavy and kinda outdated)
It is out of stock everywhere, hard to get. TBS unify or Eachine VTX03 is very good also.
Motors, maybe 2750kv can do better job for 5 inch.
Thanks for the response! I am thinking of getting the emaxx 2205 motors because they are cheaper if I crash. If you can please check out my build, it's basicly the same as yours with different motors, esc, and vtx and camera. I'm trying to get feedback on it.
No problem!
I would go with 2600kv. Maybe I am too much convinced by Joshua and Kabab...
And Emax have combo pack for cheaper price.
Check out https://www.emaxmodel.com/emax-rs2205s-racespec-motor-cooling-series-with-bullet-30a-combo.html
Those ESCs should be better than Racerstar...
Unify, one of the best..
You can replace alien pdb with carbon plate to save some weight if you go with DYS F4.
And I really like Furious ufl antennas. Light weight, easy to mount.
Just keep in mind this is not the best rf performance antenna... and mount it properly. It can ruin your VTX connector and lost or squashed at hard crash if poorly mounted.
Armattan landing skids, you should be careful choosing motor bolts.
I dont recommend this if you are beginner builder.
And.. if you had enough sim experience, maybe you can skip cheap build and just build two of your best quad:D
What would you say those best quad build would be?
Best build will be what you had most flight time with.
In this case what you want to fly every time:D
I would say something capable of your favorite flight style, maintainable and looks good.
(this one is typical mid-heavy freestyle quad aka steele style)
Because I think flying only one type of quad helps a beginner improve a lot.
Most of us need dirt cheap training quad to smash and destroy but since you had a lot of sim experience, maybe you can just start with your favorite quad!
