This is the timeline of my first brushless quad. the oldest pics are last.
Update 7/29 this quad is LOST! I went down in some trees in a residential area a street or two away and I can't find it :( FUCK! good bye to my gopro hero3+
Update 8/17 I posted an ad on craigslist and the quad/gopro have been returned after almost 3 weeks! Person who found it gave it to their nephew. He looked at the crash footage and suggested to look on craigslist for a lost and found ad. Thank you! I also added a mirco minimOSD, and destroyed 3 batteries so far.
Update 9/26 Now have hs1177 clone for a few weeks. Much better clarity than the garbage Eachine 1000TVL. I redid everything with zip ties and put the rx antenna in a better spot. I added eachine prodvr on my eachine 800D goggles! I added a beeper/LED combo which is a life saver in tall grass. I'm having the frustrating problem everyone seems to be getting with the racerstar motors. The damn c-clip pops off in a hard crash, and after that the propeller always flies away in a crash.
Update 10/12 Broke every piece of all 3 sets of props I have. kingkong 5050x3 , raycorp 5040x6, and gemfan 5030x2. I love the 6 blade props (beautiful sound, and lots of thrust) but they become unbalanced if you look at them wrong. Gemfan ABS props are total garbage. kingkong 5x5x3 are king- indestructible and lots of thrust. Now I have kingkong 5045BNx2 , and some racerstar 5040x4.
Also, I'm now running a 45 degree cam angle. I think that tilt is perfect. much easier to go fast and I can land without seeing the ground.
Update 11/15 FINALLY BOUGHT 6x chl 4s 100c BATTERIES!! 3s is worthless compared to 4s. ruined enough parts to build 2 quads. There is nothing left from the original build besides the fs-ia6b. I also moved to the other side of the city, so new spot to fly! I bought some makerfire 30A blheli_s ESC. running betaflight now instead of cleanflight. kk 5045BNx2 props are great, similar to the kk 5x5x3! like them more than the racerstar 5040x4 which break easy but sound kinda quiet. I depinned the fs-ia6b so it's one single board. this quad is destroyed and I'm building a new one.
12/5 I have a new build now and I'm recycling this one for parts. This build is officially dead.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
