4" Space Flea

My precious 4" light weight budget build. 235g AUW /w 800mah 3S batteries and 245g AUW with 650mah 4s.

Really happy with the frame. Light and tight but still 4mm bottom plate. Super cheap too!
The stack holds up well and the motors too. Cheap and fairly durable.

Built for both bottom and top mounted battery. I fly with bottom mount atm.

How are these motors holding up? I'm looking for some 1407s for my 3" build

jwangdk   May 12, 2018

I really like them! And although crashing a lot from flying agressively, I haven't changed many.
I highly recommend them and consider them to have an insanely good price/value ratio. You don't get the true power you might get from other more expensive motors though.

Wanting to build this, but i'm not a great solderer and 20*20 seems too small for me. does this frame support standard 30.5mm fc's?

jwangdk   Jan 27, 2018

No. It's a 20x20 frame only.

jwangdk   Jan 27, 2018

Check out my 3" build. Much better for starters and flies great too.

thank you!

Hi,
I'm looking to get into drone building and yours seems like a great one to start with! :D

Is there any extra parts I need to order than the parts listed?

Thanks :D

jwangdk   Dec 16, 2017

It's definitely a good build, but the 20x20mm layout of the stack is pretty tight for at first time build imo.

Check out my budget 3" build - that might be a better start for you...

You need standoffs (25mm) and a batterystrap apart from the listed parts.

KeirDavis1   Dec 18, 2017

Thanks dude!

Love the build! Do you have the weight of the frame only?

jwangdk   Dec 11, 2017

38 grams. I added af photo for documentation.

fretman   Dec 12, 2017

thanks, how much camera tilt can you get on this? the front standoffs look very close, gap too narrow for micro cam to fit through?

jwangdk   Dec 16, 2017

Can do 0-40 degress tilt. It's tight but works. The camera mounts are on Thigiverse - specific for the frame.
Can't see the frame in the camera view at all... The cut out is not too narrow.

I have a set of those motors. Looks like I now have some inspiration for them.

That's nice to hear. I really like this frame. There's a Spaceflea 3 and 2.5 too...

Until recently GoPros were delegated to larger quads. A typical GoPro weighs around 125g and we've only recently begun to mount them on 3" cinewhoops. Even that is a stress on the motors. Now we've got the "GoPro Lite". Remove the battery, displays and casing and you're left with a small, lightweight board and sensor. Wrap it in protective TPU casing and you've got a 30g micro GoPro. The Hero6 is..

This guide will walk you through the process of building your first FPV quad. The goal with this design was to build a low-cost, lightweight quad, yet powerful enough to safely carry a GoPro in close proximity areas. I chose these parts to minimize the amount of soldering at no cost to the quality. A typical build requires around 30 solders while this only needs 25. It's not a huge difference, but..
