Alright so I've been excited for this build. I've been flying Flynocerous frames for over a year now and they've never disappointed. Durable, unique, affordable, and the company is run by some great supporters of the hobby. So once the Aether dropped, I knew I'd have to give it a try.
Did I mention the edges are all chamfered? OH and the best surprise?? Josh designed the bottom plate to hide the stack screws! No more screws digging into your packs.
I painted all edges in my signature white trim and took about a week to assemble everything. Everything fit together real nice, there is plenty of vertical room in the stack to fit anything you need.
One area that I saw right away I could improve is the antenna mount. I wanted to put a UFL AXII on this quad (those things are awesome btw, so light and easy to mount) but there wasn't a super easy way to mount it. So I set to work in Fusion360, modeled up a quick "bucket" style AXII mount that fit into the roll cage tabs, and printed it out in TPU. First try and it fit perfectly. The antenna mount fits into the tabs where the included carbon SMA style mount would typically go and then the AXII just press fits into the bucket. No way this thing is going to break in that location.
All up weight at the end is 300g without the battery. Right about where I like to be, not weight weenie status but not a hefty quad either. I have these R5 Deadpool motors on other builds and they are quite efficient so I expect to easily get 2:15-2:30 out of a 1550mah R-Line pack.
Now that everything is built and idle tested, it's time to get it in the air.
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
