The Mother F***** Hype-Train Alien build! Cant get any better than these motors, on a classic frame setup. This thing to floats like a dream. I pick some choice parts with a few budget parts to make up this build. I'm going to go over a few of the items that not to many people have reviewed yet.
The Hype-Train, I"ve been refreshing like a Mother F***** on these things. In fact, I just went to see if they were up to buy yet on the RR site about 10 min before I got an email saying they were available for buying. When I got them in hand, holy crap, the care that went into making these things is nuts. Worth every penny. Honestly I can go on and on about these things, but the best thing for you to do, is just save up and buy a set. You wont regret it.
I went with the Anniversary 35a Racerstar 4in1 ESCs to power this beast. Racerstar has yet to let me down when it comes to reliability and performance of their ESCs. Plus lets be honest, there isn't that huge of a diff in ESCs when it comes to blheli_s running Dshot 600. Just ask Joshua Bardwell. But these ESCs have the ideal setup, they offer current sensing, a Vbat outlet, and they have filtering and capacitors built in so you don't have to have the extra clutter. That should be more than enough to handle the new Hype-Train motors.
I'm sticking with my first love (v2 of my first love anyways) and am using the Lux V2. This guy is locked in tight. It dosn't have the built in OSD like my other fav FC, the omnibus, but it dose have blackbox, and I have the piggy OSD to make up for it. I bought that a while ago, and never got to use it. So I'm gonna slap that on the back of the Swift 2.
So before you go off on me, please read this. This isn't your typical Alien frame. This isn't a Martian or Martian II, this is a almost identical copy that you can use real Alien frame parts on. Since I'm buying these expensive motors, I needed to cut costs somewhere else, and I found this guy, and they have only been making for a little while, and it only cost 19 bucks. My idea is to build on this frame, and when break parts, like arms, bottom plates, ect, I'll replace them with legit Impulse RC parts. So far this thing looks great, sharp edges, that need to be cleaned up for sure. The only thing that is different that the real deal, is the top plate in the front. its curved out and has a wider flange that goes around the screw to strengthen it. I already ordered an official matte black PDB from RR. Link to check out the frame.
I picked up this FFPV OSD right before I bought my first Omnibus FC, and relized what I bought was already obsolete for my use. But with keeping that in mind for this build I was able to use one of my old favorite FCs to make this killer quad.
This thing is tits! The flight is so smooth, and the flight time is insane. I'm getting about 4-5 min using HQ 5x4x3 v1s props. I have a basic warm up routine when it comes to flying areas I know, and I'm finding I have about 2 extra minutes to dick around, and that's making finding all the nooks and cranny a lot easier. I cant recommend these motors enough.
Stock PIDs and with rates that are way to high for this setup. You can see every move I make, this thing is super responsive, I can really tone it down.
I blew my parts budget last month on a set of EFAW 2407s for a 6" build, but these motors are so friggin' gorgeous that I think I'll have to start saving up again... :P
This is a very pretty build, nicely done!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..
Read moreWith the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

How has that ESC been holding up? I ask because I may use it in one of my builds.
Great! I love the current sensor built in to it. It also is way more than needed for these motors, so they are handling everything I throw at it. I've built 3 more quads for friends that use this setup and haven't had anything go wrong.
That's great to hear! It would be way over what my set would need, but that's never a bad thing in a 4 in 1.
Yeah, and the nice part is, if you ever want to upgrade motors or change a setup that requires them to be that high, you already got'em!
