I've never had a quad with prop guards, so I wanted to try one out for indoor ripping. This Tomoquads Kosho 64mm is set up for 1S, but has 2S capable parts just in case.

I got a 3D printer during the time I was building, so I printed up some colorful bits. It has been really fun printing up lots of TPU stuff. There isn't any room for sleeving on these tiny ones, so this helped with the bling.

The stock 20mm standoffs seememd super tall, so I dyed up some 15 mm nylon ones I had, along with some colorful o-rings which may help keep the camera steady (but mostly just look fancy). I might even switch to 10mm later.

Dyeing nylon parts is really fun and easy. 6oz hot water from the keurig coffee machine, 1g of powdered RIT dye (or 10ml liquid) and dump the parts in. 5 minutes for a hint of color, 10 minutes as shown. You can get them much darker if you want.

A fun build, and a cool frame with the floating fc design.

How does this fly in tight confines (i.e. inside a normal house) versus a "good" tiny whoop. Got going to brushed, but have been looking at this approach (this quad frame) and a Rakonheli frame that is essentially a whoop. Thoughts? Advice?

If I do this route I would have to send you some $ for the TPU parts!

Finally got a chance to do some flying with this one. It is fun but definitely not super powerful. I haven't had a whoop before, but it seems similar to my 100mm brushed quad that spins 55mm props. But the prop guard is nice because I can chase my kids around the house with it and it won't bite them. Might go for 2S setup eventually.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
