I had a set of Hypetrains and nothing to put them on, so I decided to design something unique. This is designed as mod for the Chameleon, which has been one of my favorite freestyle frames. I changed the geometry up a bit, and made 5mm thick narrower replaceable arms. It looks kind of like a turtle, which a couple people pointed out, so I named it Crush after the turtle from Finding Nemo. The frame is a tad heavier than the stock Chameleon, but it should be significantly stronger, and this build still came out a tad lighter than my other main freestyle rig, simply because of building with lighter components. AUW is about 630g with the GoPro and battery. Overall I think it came out pretty sweet! First few packs on video here:
is it possible to make the arms wider i want to fit some kiss 32a esc's and there really wide. Also could you also test the new KISS esc's.
it seems like they should have plate below the arms to make them stornger
Actually this is my own design, and there is an optional plate you can install, but it adds weight. I left it off on this build, and it is plenty strong. I designed the arms so that they have a lot of flat area that re-enforces the other arms, which provides a lot of rigidity and reinforcement on perpendicular loads. Been bashing it around, and so far it's holding up great!
AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..

The build and your mods look great, I'm impressed.
How have your prop choices worked out with the Hypertrains? Which of the two chosen are working out the best?
I like the way the Gemfan 5152 handle probably the best so far. I've tried those, the HQ 5048, and the Buttercutters, and they all do pretty well. The 5048 are probably my least favorite just because you need to carry quite a bit of speed to avoid propwash. The others are a bit less finicky, with the 5152 having the best control and least propwash. You have to watch your throttle on the 5152 though. Anything above about 70% starts to loose efficiency pretty fast. Below that though they're surprisingly efficient.
Thanks for the info, I was wondering just how efficient the more aggressive pitch props would be in this build. Your info is promising and can't wait to give them a try.
Thanks again for taking the time to replay and enjoy this quad, it truly is a wonderful build.
